Owen's first blog
Photography to me is a hobby that I really enjoy snapping moments I would like to see again. With a setting like a cloudy day after it just had rained, looking at the mountains in front of kraft pulling out my phone to take a picture of the surroundings I'll likely not see again as well and getting that moment right then saved in my gallery is what I like about it the most. One thing within the text that specifically hit me was on page 17 where it said, "Photographs influence how we define our needs, and give us permission to explore desire". The quote follows along with that small feeling I would have of taking a picture of a place or object to keep as a memory within my own phone rather than my mind.
Photography being something that can capture a moment in a time that can be kept for a long time and show a comparison of what something or someone had looked like previously is another thing that I enjoy thinking of using to show physical change of myself from going to the gym. With the effort put into the gym or just keeping myself in shape seeing a clear difference makes me feel a lot better knowing the progress I have made throughout the past years another quote within the text that followed along the thought process was when Heiferman had said, "Photography is fundamental to the ways we define and understand who we are. How we choose to represent ourselves as individuals or in groups, and what happens when we are photographed by others, all contribute to the shaping of self-image and stereotypes and influence how people relate to us"(pg 17). Mainly on my social media because I follow people that have the same passion as I do, they would show pictures of themselves years ago being either really skinny or overweight and after years of effort they became the very person they always wanted to be and that's what inspires me when seeing photos from people like that.
A final thing about photography is its possibility of making something that could like so plain and change its appearance. Mainly in digital photography photoshop or anything that follows along with editing the filter of the frame creates a better version of what it would look like normally creating possibly lighting that could never be as perfect in that picture.
